Today the Buick Open started up in full force. With Tiger Woods playing in his first tournament, people are waiting to see if he will start off better than last year.
The top 20 players on the PGA tour are out and ready to get this year off to a great start. This is the first tournament I will be able to watch all of, I am thrilled.
Thank god for the Golf Channel.
Being out of work is really kind of nice as long as the savings last. Kind of a 6 month vacation, good thing I bought a house 20 years ago. That home equity is really handy in case of emergency.
So I will be keeping you posted as the tournament progresses.

Government Rebate Checks to Fix the Economy?
The latest congress move to repair our broken economy is an early release of Government Rebate Checks. For people who are due the money in 2009, they are issuing them now.
Combined with Income Tax Refunds, this will put billions of dollars back in Americans pockets which we hope they quickly spend and put back into the economy with increased spending.
Coupled with the Housing Loan government help for lenders and new tax breaks, this should be a quick fix.
But will they bounce? Do we have the extra money in Washington D.C to dump billions back? Economists don't know for sure.
Don't you think if lenders had been more careful this could have been avoided?
We need to create more jobs and keep jobs in the country if we are serious about helping the middle class. The middle class is taking the brunt like usual.
Government rebate checks to the rich, are not going to help many people.
Maybe they can buy another fancy car.

$650,000 for eight bottle of Screaming Eagles Wine
Screaming Eagle Wine is one hard to find bottle of wonder. Keeping supplies low, less than 500 cases a year really keeps prices up and people seeking it out.
In 2001 at a Wine Auction in Napa Valley, one enthusiast paid $650,000 for eight bottles of the very rare Screaming Eagle Wine.
It makes it one of the most wanted on Wine Tasters list every where.
It has some of the highest ratings and scores of any American wine produced in California. The whole country actually.
This years Wine Festival has another lot of 6 bottles of the famous Screaming Eagle wine as well as two Screamin Eagle Harley Davidson Motorcycles to tempt bidders.

MGM shares fall after Fire at Monte Carlo Casino
A three alarm fire in Las Vegas at the Monte Carlo Casino forced a drop in MGM stock prices. It is amazing what a simple thing like this can do.
No one was seriously injured in the fire at the 3000 room hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The Monte Carlo has over 3000 employees and is owned directly by MGM Mirage.
I am sure Las Vegas Casinos will not be harmed, but it can sure shake up the stock market. It brings back the memories of the 1980 MGM Grand casino that killed 84 people and injured over 700.
Ballys certainly recovered well after they changed the name from MGM Grand.
Firefighters are still at the scene after the fire started at the top of the 32 floor Casino.
